AFCEA NOVA Gives $164,000 in Scholarships in 2010

AFCEA NOVA is pleased to announce the award of education scholarships totaling $164,000 in 2010. AFCEA NOVA awards scholarships annually to exemplary students from the Northern Virginia region who are studying for degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

“This was our best year ever,” said Chris Cusano, VP for Education. “We had an outstanding group of over 200 candidates and we were able to award scholarships to over 40 of them.

We are grateful to our corporate sponsors and everyone who worked to make our AFCEA NOVA IT Days such a great success this past year; the proceeds allowed us to fund a record number of scholarships this year.
Thanks also to our Scholarship Committee for their great work, especially outgoing committee chair Linda Bunton from Powertek. Congratulations to all our winners!”

The scholarship committee will begin outreach efforts for the 2010-2011 program year in September. Information about the committee and the application process will be available at www.afceanova.org/scholarships shortly.

The application period is anticipated to run from November to February, 2011. If you are interested in participating in the scholarship committee or learning more about the program, please contact John Skudlarek.
