Video of the GMU Subchapter UAV Quadrocopter - Made possible by grants from AFCEA NOVA.

Watch this amazing video of the stabilized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the George Mason University (GMU) Subchapter of AFCEA NOVA.

What sets this UAV apart is the ability to perform autonomous airborne behaviors. This project was made possible by an educational grant from the Chapter, and provided the students with hands-on design, programming, and fabrication experience to help them in their engineering careers. The UAV is being enhanced with sensor capabilities in the form of IR cameras, again funded by a grant from AFCEA NOVA.

While the UAV gave the GMU students some great hands-on experience, its real value is sparking interest in STEM careers for young students in the Northern Virginia area. The Subchapter has demonstrated at a number of events focused on captivating audiences both young and old and stimulating elementary, middle, and high school students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Bravo Zulu to our Sub Chapter Team.
