"Higher, Faster, Farther" Airs to Schools Locally & Across the Nation
"Higher, Faster, Farther" - the 2nd installment of the AFCEA NOVA sponsored Flight School Electronic Field Trips Project - will air on October 17 from the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm EDT.
The Flight School series is produced by the Fairfax County Public Schools' "Fairfax Network", and their content reaches millions of kids across the country through a vast satellite network of schools and school systems. In addition, the Fairfax Network website has a wealth of additional resources for teachers who build science and math lesson plans around the show.
"Flight School" - the 1st installment of Inspired to Fly - was ordered by the Navy Starbase Atlantis sites. Starbase is a youth outreach program with 40 sites across the services to encourage math and science. The Flight School series is a perfect fit for them to use in their curriculum. There has also been contact from another group for a similar effort geared to high school level.
On behalf members and sponsors, AFCEA NOVA is indeed out there making a difference.
If you have middle school children, please encourage their teachers to organize a viewing of "Higher, Faster, Farther" on October 17th.
