31st Annual Valentine's Ball

On Saturday, February 11th, 2012, AFCEA NOVA will host the thirty-first edition of the annual AFCEA-NOVA Valentine's Ball. This year's Ball will be held at the elegant Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.
For over 30 years, the Valentine’s Ball has been one of the premiere social events in Washington, DC.

Rear Adm. Tighe was born in Bowling Green, Ky., and raised in Plantation, Fla. She was commissioned from the U.S. Naval Academy as an ensign (Special Duty Cryptology) in 1984 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
Tighe’s cryptologic operational tours include duty with Naval Security Group Activities in Florida, Virginia, Atsugi/Misawa Japan and on the Pacific Fleet staff.
In 1989, Tighe studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif. She was subsequently assigned to the Naval Security Group Detachment Atsugi, Japan, where she earned Naval Aviation Observer wings while deployed as an airborne special evaluator aboard Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One (VQ 1) EP-3E aircraft in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. During her tour, Tighe served as operations officer and assistant officer in charge, in addition to accumulating over 1,200 operational flight hours in the EP-3E aircraft.

On February 23, 2012, AFCEA NOVA is again pleased to bring you the 10th Annual Air Force IT Day which will be held at the Tyson’s Corner Sheraton Premier. As at previous AF IT Day conferences, this program will offer you an outstanding opportunity to learn first hand about the difficult challenges facing our Air Force and how IT capabilities can play a major role in meeting those challenges. Once again we have lined up a power packed program of speakers who will tell you what’s happening in Air Force IT today and the vision for the future.

Rear Adm. Simpson is the vice director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As vice director, he helps lead a worldwide organization of military and civilian personnel responsible for planning, developing, and providing interoperable, global net-centric solutions that serve the needs of the president, secretary of defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, the combatant commanders, and other Department of Defense (DoD) components.
Simpson’s previous assignment was Corporate Director for Information Dominance (OPNAV N2/N6), where he served on the chief of naval operations staff responsible for Information Dominance and Intelligence Policy, Workforce, Assessment, Compliance and Corporate functions.
Simpson is a native of Burbank Calif., a 1982 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and received a master's degree in Space Systems Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School.
