AFCEANova

In March, the chapter recognized its monthly award winners: Col. Ward Heinke, USAF (Ret.), received the SuperNOVA Award, and Patrick Mobley was recognized as the Young AFCEAN of the Month. Col. Ward serves as the director of the Cyber Defense Solution Center for Raytheon. He has been an active chapter volunteer for years and is a lifetime member of AFCEA. The colonel has been a key contributor to the Valentine's Ball Committee and was instrumental in overseeing room preparations for the event. Col. Ward has been a valuable member of the chapter’s Air Force IT Day Committee for years, bringing his real-world experience and expertise to develop an event that addresses relevant, mission critical issues facing the department. Mobley works in client delivery and business development for Dominion Business Solutions.

In March, Chris Cusano, chapter president, recognized dedicated volunteers for their outstanding service to the chapter. This year, the chapter nominated a number of high performing volunteers for the AFCEA International Medal of Merit Award. This award recognizes dedicated service to AFCEA along with a sustained professional contribution in the fields of information systems, intelligence and communications technology. The chapter’s nominees for 2013 are: Ryan Cox with Gartner; Matt Czarnecki with NTT Data Federal; Paul Patton with CACI; Mike Sinisi with ManTech; and Michelle Youngers with Raytheon Trusted Computing Solutions.

The chapter selected Alexa Tsui as its SuperNOVA of the Month recipient for February. Tsui is a business development manager at Technik Incorporation, an ISO 9001:2000 certified professional services company. She is involved in almost every volunteer opportunity available with the chapter. Most recently, she led the efforts of creating the first ever chapter newsletter, the NOVA COMMUNICATOR. She also helped support the following events: Navy IT and Air Force IT days, the Wounded Warrior Program, Membership, Heroines in Technology and many more. Artin Boghozian received the Young AFCEAN of the Month Award. Boghozian provides business development for CSC. He has been a very active member and leader within the Young AFCEAN community.

Shana Muhammad received the chapter's December SuperNOVA Award. Muhammad is a business development manager for Strategic Resources Incorporated. She has been an active member of the chapter since 2009 and has made substantial contributions across many chapter programs. She served as Young AFCEAN co-chair for Warfighter IT Day; chair for Mentor Protégé Night; co-chair for the Luncheon Committee; co-chair for the Beltway Collaboration Reception; and a member of the Heroines in Technology Auction Committee. The chapter selected Rob Stevens as the Young AFCEAN of the Month. Stevens is a program manager/business development for ELEVI Associates LLC, a certified small business delivering information technology-based systems and services.
