Support our Wounded Warriors
The Young AFCEANs of AFCEA NOVA support our wounded warriors by:
- Distributing Gift Cards to wounded warriors via monthly ice cream socials sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project. These gift cards are donated independently by corporations and individuals.
- Educating interested parties about events that benefit wounded warriors as well as volunteer opportunities (concerts / charities / greeting troops at regional airports returning from deployment)
- Receiving donated
tickets by corporations or individuals to sporting or concert events
and delivering to the Walter Reed events coordinator.
AFCEA via its Young AFCEANS is actively supporting our troops and activities and events already going on as well as new ideas we can promulgate to appropriate people.
How can you get involved?
Make donations towards gift cards, spread the word to large corporations that they can donate their club or suite seats to a wounded warrior at Walter Reed and check our website for events that will benefit our troops.

Additional Resources
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors. To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.
The Air Force will take care of its Wounded Warriors. We will fully support the Office of the Secretary of Defense programs to keep highly skilled men and women on active duty. If this is not feasible, the Air Force will ensure Airmen receive enhanced assistance through the AFW2 program.
The AW2 Program is the only Army program that assists and advocates from the time of injury and continues throughout the Wounded Warrior Lifecycle of Care of AW2 Soldiers and is not limited by physical location or constrained by recovery or rehabilitation timelines.
Navy Wounded Warrior ProgramThe Navy is committed to providing our Sailors and their families the medical care and non-medical care and support throughout their recovery, rehabilitation, reintegration and beyond worthy of their service and sacrifice
The Salute Military Golf Association
The SMGA believes the rehabilitative benefits of golf can improve the mental and physical condition of each and every wounded soldier returning from combat. The SMGA provides golf equipment, lessons, and playing opportunities for combat-wounded American soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.
With input from family caregivers, Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, non-profit and veterans service organizations, we have developed a Plan of Action to address one of the biggest gaps between needs and resources for families of severely wounded service members – a gap that exists after the service member leaves inpatient medical care and the family assumes 24/7 care giving for their loved one at home. Please read our Plan of Action to implement a Community Resource Coordinator Program for post-transition families.
