About the AFCEA NOVA Scholarship Program
In brief, the AFCEA NOVA Scholarship is:
- Merit-based
- Awarded to students who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM-related field (science, technology, engineering, math)
- A one-time award paid over two semesters: $2,000 for full time students; $1,000 for part time students
- Awarded to students who are permanent residents of the Greater Washington area
(View eligible counties of residence)
Scholarship awards may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States. Membership in AFCEA is not necessary to be considered for a scholarship, however financial need and Military and Government service may be factors considered in the awards. Recommendations, transcripts, and test scores are required.
Through this program, the Board and Members of AFCEA NOVA hope to encourage bright, motivated students to apply their skills and knowledge to the challenges that America will face in the future. We encourage our scholarship recipients to explore careers in government or military service, or consider employment in one of the private companies working alongside the military and government agencies to protect our national freedom. Applicants also have opportunities to stay engaged with AFCEA throughout their educational careers and beyond and take advantage of our mentoring and networking programs. As an example, AFCEA NOVA is also sponsoring an internship program to further augment the experience of our winners
The application is submitted online, with the additional information (transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation) submitted by mail. The scholarship submission period is typically from December 1 – February 28 each year. Notifications are made in early May and a reception for winners and their families is held in June.
