MG(P) Susan Lawrence, who has been special assistant to Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Chiarelli, was formally appointed as the new CIO/G-6 on March 3. She replaces Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Sorenson, who retired in November.
General Lawrence, originally from Ida Grove, Iowa, initially enlisted in the Army in 1972, and received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in June 1979.
Prior to assuming her recent confirmation as G6/CIO, she commanded NETCOM/9th SC (A), and also served as the Commanding General, 5th Signal Command, and the United States Army Europe and Seventh Army (USAREUR) Chief Information Officer/Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6 (CIO/G-6).
MG(P) Lawrence’s awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with eight Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Parachutist Badge, the Army Staff Identification Badge, and the Joint Staff Badge.

Goverment employees and active military attend free of charge, but must register in advance. Onsite registrations for government and military personal are charged at the normal on-site rate.
A $5.00 onsite surcharge is added to walk-on registrations, if space is available. Be sure to preregister to guarantee your space and to save money!Cancellation Policy: Full refunds up to 48 hours prior to the event. No refunds thereafter.

AFCEA NOVA offers a shuttle-ride service between the Pentagon and the Sheraton for luncheon attendees.
The drivers will depart the
Pentagon at 11:05am for the Sheraton and departs the Sheraton at 1:30pm
return to the Pentagon by 2:00pm.
