Support our Wounded Warriors

AFCEA NOVA Wounded Warrior Affiliations

Wounded Warrior Project

The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors, to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

The Salute Military Golf Association

The SMGA believes the rehabilitative benefits of golf can improve the mental and physical condition of each and every wounded soldier returning from combat.

The SMGA provides golf equipment, lessons, and playing opportunities for combat-wounded American soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.

C*A*M*M*O

Center for American Military Music Opportunities provides therapeutic programs and outlets for service members and veterans.

In addition, the organization extends career opportunities in the music and entertainment industry often left unattainable to military personnel, and presents performances, concerts, and workshops to audiences of all ages.

Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation

The Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation provides assistance to our Wounded EOD Warriors and their families in the form of financial relief.

AFCEA NOVA understands that our Wounded Warriors face many challenges such as medical treatments, early career transition, connectivity to hiring organizations, and access to educational resources.

Our goal is to assist and empower these individuals as we advocate to industry the true value of a Veteran. AFCEA NOVA supports our Wounded Warriors by incorporating an E³ Methodology. (Educate, Enable, Empower)

Educate

Educate interested parties on how they can engage these individuals. Many employers are not fully aware or equipped, to comprehend the needs of these young men and women as they attempt to transition into industry.

AFCEA International, in support of AFCEA NOVA’s Wounded Warrior initiative, has agreed to offer educational courses at no cost to a select number of our Wounded Warriors who are able to attend.

Since 1982, the Professional Development Center (PDC), an integral division of AFCEA Educational Foundation, has been offering professional courses on a wide range of topics supporting AFCEA International’s guiding vision to advance knowledge and to better support information professionals serving in government (military and civilian), industry, and higher education.

Enable

Enable our Wounded Warriors to pursue other venues of professional growth as we advocate for connectivity to “Vet friendly” employers.

  • Enabling organizations to better understand the needs of these individuals so they can become “proactively” involved
  • Enabling connectivity to resources and affiliations
  • AFCEA NOVA is focused on turning obstacles into opportunities

Empower

Empower our Wounded Warriors by connecting them with industry and forming alliances and affiliations with organizations that offer:

  • Training programs, workshops,  webinars
  • Professional resources, resume templates
  • Mentor programs, veteran networking groups

How can you get involved?
